2010 Chevrolet Camaro Delayed A Month

According to General Motors today they contacted dealers to let them know 2010 Camaro production has been delayed until March 16, one month after the initial start date. No reason was given to the dealers from GM but some have speculated the delay in production is due to problems with parts suppliers or the high demand for the SS model. GM also stated the 10,000 pre-orders they received should be completed by sometime in October.

Tom Henry Racing Special Edition 2010 Camaro Announced

Customizing Chevrolet Camaros is nothing new for Tom Henry Racing as they have already been down this road before back in 2001 when they built and sold the "Tom Henry SS" Camaro. Building off the success of their first SS models Tom Henry Racing is back with their own special-edition 2010 Camaro dubbed the "Tom Henry Racing Camaro". The special-edition 2010 THR Camaros will be available in an array of body and performance modifications.
THR will start with either a V-6 Camaro LT or V-8 SS model using any stock color or a custom THR Jetstream Blue which the pictures depict. Body modificiations include front splitter, fender hash marks, racing stripes, hockey stick graphics package, rear duck tail spoiler similar to the one on the Jr. Camaro concept at SEMA and matte-black-coated "tail panel". All V-8 modified THR Camaros will receive a custom designed "SS Grille" replacing the OEM version. Each and every THR Camaro will get a windshield header and special THR nameplates on the front fenders.
Performance modifications for both the V-6 and V-8 Camaro versions will include low-restriction exhaust system, cold-air intake system and a custom ECM tune. For V-8 Camaros a set of long tube headers using an X-pipe will be optional. The LS3 enginewill receive 1.85:1 rocker arms. A power increase from the stock 422 hp to 440 hp should be the norm. Down the line into 2010 Tom Henry Racing will offer customers supercharger options which will bump power over 500 horsepower.

Mysterious Brake Weights on Camaro SS Brembo Brakes

Several early owners of new 2010 Camaro SS have noticed oddly looking weights on their Brembo Brake calipers. The weights look very similar to the ones put on the inside of your wheel to balance it out. Questions about these weights have circulated through the Camaro forums over the past week and finally General Motors has given an official answer. Basically in a nutshell the weights are present to reduce noise during certain driving conditions.
John Fitzpatrick, GM's Marketing manager for the new camaro gives the official statement saying "Some early Camaro customers noticed that there are weights on the Camaro SS calipers. With high-performance vehicles like the Camaro SS, minor brake noise is not uncommon. The weights act as a damper to reduce noise in certain driving conditions. This was done after careful evaluation and validation by our engineering team. These weights will only be added to early builds of the Camaro SS."
GM has remedied the situation on all new SS models being produced with no further issues.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro Suppliers Graphic Illustration

Have you ever wondered how many outside manufacturing companies supply parts for certain cars? Well, over at Camaro5.com they have posted a very interesting graphic illustration of all the 3rd party companies who supply parts for the 2010 Camaro. The cut-away graphic of suppliers for the 2010 Camaro literally stuns me. In the back of my mind I knew it was several companies but nothing like this. Almost every single part on the Camaro is manufactured by a 3rd party supplier. Most of these companies I have never heard of but a few are pretty well known like Panasonic who supplies the radio, BASF supplies the basecoat and Brembo supplies...

2011 Chevrolet Volt Overview

Via: TheCarConnection.com
GM confirmed the production version of the Chevrolet Volt, announcing that the new plug-in hybrid vehicle would feature 40 miles of electric driving range and extended-range capability for "hundreds of additional miles." GM calls the Volt an E-REV, for extended-range electric vehicle. The first 40 miles of range are powered by a 16-kwh lithium-ion battery; the battery can be recharged by the Volt's gasoline engine, which also runs on ethanol. This eliminates "range anxiety," which GM says comes

2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Buying Advice
The Chevrolet Cobalt is the best car for you if you’re interested in a domestic model that favors low prices and low operating costs over high refinement – and you don’t mind driving a car with a design that’s about to go out of date.
The 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt ends the six-year run of this popular compact coupe and sedan. In the wings is a more-modern replacement, the 2011 Chevy Cruze. A five-passenger sedan due on sale in late 2010, Cruze will be similar in size to the Cobalt, but promises more space-efficient and higher-quality engineering and over 40 mpg.

The 2010 Cobalt is caught between a Cruze and a craze. As its replacement nears, dealers will be increasingly eager to close out their Cobalt inventories. That should benefit transaction prices that are already among the lowest in the class. But Cobalt’s combination of fine fuel economy and friendly pricing means demand will be healthy even as supplies dwindle, so prices won’t fall as far as they might.
2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Chages
Styling: Given the lame-duck status, don’t expect Chevy to alter the appearance of any Cobalt for 2010. Chevy never was able to make the value-priced Cobalt LS and LT models look like anything but entry-level cars. Extra body trim and bold alloy wheels at least help the sporty Cobalt SS models escape the “I-can’t-afford-much-more” aura. SS models in fact got a revised nose for 2009.
Mechanical: Likely little change to the powertrains, which get the job done in surprisingly good fashion. Chevy updated Cobalt’s base engine for 2009, boosting it to a useful 155 horsepower and even increasing fuel economy slightly. A turbocharged 260-horsepower four-cylinder makes SS versions genuinely entertaining.
Features: Nothing much to add, mostly because Cobalt has always offered a nice array of standard equipment and options. Antilock brakes unfortunately cost extra on LS and LT versions, but you can get niceties such as leather upholstery and remote engine start. SS versions come with Brembo-brand front brakes and can be ordered with a dashboard display that shows 0-60 mph times and other performance data. Instead of a navigation system, however, Coblat owners have to rely on the turn-by-turn voice instructions from the optional OnStar service
2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Prices
Cobalt comes as a two-door-coupe and four-door-sedan, and Chevy prices them the same, starting at an appealing $15,000 or so, including destination charges. That gets you the 155-horsepower engine, air conditioning, split-folding rear seats, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat, among other standard features. Another $1,000 or so adds power windows, locks and mirrors and remote keyless entry. Automatic transmission costs an additional $1,000 or so. SS versions are a decent buy starting around $23,000.
2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Fuel Economy
Cobalt LS and LT models rate around 25 mpg city/34 mpg highway with manual transmission and around 22/34 with automatic. SS versions rate 22/30 and come only with manual transmission.

2009 Chevrolet Camero Impressions

Consumer Guide's Impression of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaroby the Auto Editors of Consumer Guide
With nostalgia-exploiting styling and a promise of 400 horsepower, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has good looks and muscle to match. But by its 2010 launch date, will anyone still have Camaro fever?

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro reintroduces a famous Chevy nameplate last used in 2002. Pictured is the 2010 Camaro concept car. See more pictures of the Chevy Camaro.
What we know about the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is a response to the success of the retro-flavored Ford Mustang and the buzz surrounding the pending 2008 Dodge Challenger.
Chevy mothballed the Camaro name after it discontinued production of the sporty coupe and convertible after the 2002 model year. Camaro had been in production for 40 years before slow sales killed it.
The reincarnated 2010 Chevrolet Camaro would be the fifth-generation Camaro. It'll appear first as a coupe, with a convertible to follow for the 2011 model year. The cars have been displayed in concept-car form at several auto shows.
Styling of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is inspired by the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, a one-year body style valued today by collectors. The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible concept cars employed key elements of the 1969 Camaro design, including the general look of the grille and the slats in front of the rear wheels.
The new Camaro is otherwise more modern in appearance than the current Ford Mustang, which celebrates its late-1960s ancestor, and the 2008 Dodge Challenger, which is a quite literal interpretation of the 1970 Challenger.
Chevrolet has not confirmed the dimensions of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible, but the cars look to be slightly larger than the 2002 Camaro while still retaining the long-hood, short-deck, low-roof profile and small rear seat that are the hallmarks of the true pony car.
Chevy also is mum about model and trim designations, but both coupe and convertible have been shown as auto show concept cars. Both were equipped with a 400-horsepower version of the 6.0-liter V-8 from the Chevrolet Corvette.
Unlike the 2008 Dodge Challenger, which is planned with just a high-horsepower Hemi V-8 engine, Chevy intends to offer several engines on the new Camaro.
Look for a price-leader model with a V-6 engine, perhaps a 3.9-liter with about 250 horsepower. There also could be a midline version with a V-8 of somewhat less horsepower than the Corvette-derived 6.0. This follows Ford's practice with the Mustang, which offers a V-6 and several V-8s.
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will offer manual and automatic transmissions, both with six speeds.
All these modern-day pony cars have rear-wheel drive. The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible will be built on General Motors' Zeta architecture, a design first developed for GM's Holden Australian subsidiary.
A version of same architecture hosts the 2008 Pontiac G8 sedan and could be used on a late-decade resurrection of the Pontiac GTO.
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible will be assembled in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, where the most-recent Camaros were built.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will be launched as a coupe, with a convertible version planned for 2011. Both will offer V-6 and V-8 engines.
A Notable Feature of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro's interior may actually be a more faithful recreation of the 1969 model than its exterior. The general shapes are similar, and the main instruments are two big dials with a decidedly retro look. Drawn directly from the 1969 Camaro is the set of four rectangular ancillary gauges set at the forward base of the center console.
Buying Advice for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is not likely to be a future collectible, not with a production of some 100,000 per year. Even if that proves optimistic, resale values of the new Camaro probably will depreciate like those of any volume-production new car. Buy one to drive and enjoy, but don't hold your breath waiting for your car to appreciate in value over the years.
2010 Chevrolet Camaro Prices: Expect Camaro coupes to start around $25,000 with the V-6, with top-of-the-line V-8 convertible versions breaking $40,000 fully equipped.
2010 Chevrolet Camaro Release Date: The Camaro coupe is scheduled in showrooms in spring 2009. The convertible version, a 2011 model, could be on sale about a year later.
